38 Weeks and making progress

I went today for a doctors appointment and she finally checked me. I have been waiting for her to do this. Well I am dialated only 1 cm and she estimated that my cervix has softened to about 60% and again told me that his head is real low. My stomach measured at 36 inches, so it grew an inch in a week. So I am FINALLY beginning to make some kind of progress. Since I asked her last week about being induced, she asked me if that is what I wanted and I told her that I just won't want to end up having a big baby and being ripped. She told me that if I wanted, she would induce me at 39 weeks if I was real miserable or wait until my due date May 14 (a Friday), and if Connor doesn't come on his own, she would induce me on May 17 (Monday). So, it looks like I have a date to look forward to, unless he comes sooner. So, she will check me again next week and see how I am feeling and we will probably decide what we will do then.
