Luke gets tubes

Originally, Luke's surgery was scheduled for February5, but there was an error in the scheduling and they called us last week and said, that they could either do the surgery today or the end of February. I figured the sooner, the better. I felt that if we waited that long, he would probably have another ear infection. So last week, we went for our pre-op appointment where they did his hearing test. His test came out great, no damage to his hearing. So this morning, we had to be at Texas Children's in Katy at 6:30 and the surgery was at 8:00. Luke was in full swing when we got there, playing and being his silly self. Right before his surgery the doctor came to talk to us and look at his ears one more time before heading back. Dr. Prichard put his arms out and Luke went straight to him, with no fussy or crying for either one of us--which totally surprised both of us--he is usually pretty clingy when strangers are around. So by the time we went into the waiting room and text the family, I pulled out some school work to grade. I didn't even finish grading the first paper when Dr. Prichard came in to tell us he was finished (probably a 10 min procedure) and Luke did such a great job. By then, a nurse came to get us so we could see Luke in recovery. He was already up and fussing a little. We had to stay in recovery for about 40 minutes, and then we were on our way home by 9:00. He was a little fussy in the car until he fell asleep. Once he woke up, he was back to his normal self. You would have never thought that he had any kind of procedure done to him.

Here he is waiting to go back to surgery. He was so cute in his little gown.
