Spring Break - ends with a BANG!

Luke probably wishes that this Spring Break never even happened. The poor guy started Spring Break with a boom and ended with a BANG! You will have to read the entire post to see what all happened!

Monday morning we awake and head to Victoria For Luke to see the dentist for his front two teeth extractions. (To refresh your memory - two christmas' ago he was walking along our bath tub and slipped and fell and push his front two teeth back.) Well the teeth and roots were pretty much damaged and the Dr. Bill didn't want that to affect his permanent teeth, so extractions and a new bridge with two new shiny pearls for his front two teeth were placed in. As soon as we drove up, Luke recognized the building and started crying and telling us NO, teeth, NO! It would have broke your heart. We got him calmed down and waited to be called back. Once they called his name to go back, he started crying again saying NO!! We were placed in a holding room where they have him some nice medicine to relax him and within about 15 minutes, they took him to the back. In no time, was he back with a popsicle in his hand, saying he wanted to go home and ride his tractor. He talked the entire time home, telling me that he got new teeth. I don't the pain nor the experience hindered him one bit. Once we got home, he ate some chicken and dumplings and layed down for a nap. Once he was up, he was out the door and on his tractor. You would have thought nothing ever happened to him

Here he is on the way to the dentist

and then on his tractor

So the tooth fairy had to come visit and pay Luke for those special teeth

placing it under his pillow

Looking for what the tooth fairy left for him

and here he is showing off his new teeth

Tuesday morning, the kids and I along with NaShay and the girls went to the bay for a night. It was a little breezy, but the sun was out, and we made the best of it!

Trip on the golfcart to feed the ducks

Then we headed to the new and improved beach. We walked the beach and climbed on the jetties.

Being silly

On our way back Wednesday morning we stopped by Prasek's for breakfast and just hung out at the house

Thursday we stayed around the house a cleaned, did homework, and played

Friday, we made a trip to the museum and then had a picnic lunch at Hutchins to play on the new playground
Luke didn't quit make it up the mound - he came tumbling down!

Saturday morning we headed to the ranch for the night to ride the tractors and do a little fishing

Sunday night, we went by my parents house to visit and the boys were playing in the living room as we all watched Luke run across the floor and trip on a throw pillow and basically do a split - as one leg went one way and the other leg went the other way. When he landed, we all knew it wasn't good. I picked him up and he was complaining his leg hurt. We left there around 8:00 p.m. and went home to give the boys a bath. I was undressing Luke and asked if he could stand on his legs and he was shaking so bad and screaming that we gave him a sponge bath and put Connor down for the night. Jayson's parents came over to stay with Connor as we took Luke to the ER here in El Campo around 10:00 p.m.. They took us back immediately and had Xrays done, and showed that Luke had a fractured femur on his left leg. The doctor told us that we were being transferred to Texas Children's in the Medical Center and we would be transported by ambulance. So I rode with Luke in the ambulance to the hospital while Jayson followed us.

Luke in the ambulance - I'm pretty sure he had no idea where we was due to all the pain meds...

We arrived at Texas Children's around 1:00 a.m. We got in a room right away and were asked a million questions of what happened. We had to wait for the orthopedic surgeons to look at the xrays to see if surgery was needed. Finally about 3:00 a.m. the doctor came in the room some good news - that he was not going to have surgery, but they would place him in a splint for a couple of days waiting on any swelling to occur and then follow up with an orthopedic doctor for a cast.

So around 4:30, we finally were discharged from the ER and headed home.

Stay tuned for the follow up appointment to get the cast.
