Potty Training in Progress

So this potty training thing is hard work for both parents and child. Connor first showed interest in the potty at 18 months. He would usually go pee on the potty before bath time and that was it, not any other time. You could ask if he needed to go potty and his answer was always NO. So after a while, I kind of gave up on the idea of potty training, thinking he was way too young. Since August, Mrs. Sue has really been working with him on peeing in the potty. Last week he did awesome at her house, kept a dry diaper all day, except he still poos in the diaper. He will pee all day on a potty, but to poo on the potty, that is another story. We have been working with him at home as well, asking him every 30 min or so if he needs to potty. Every once in a while, he will actually tell you that he needs to potty, which I feel like he is making some progress. He has been wearing underwear while at home with us. He gets candy at Mrs. Sue's house and stickers at out house every time he goes to the potty.

We have been bribing him for a while that once we can get rid of his diapers and he wears big boy underwear all the time that we would buy him a new tractor and trailer. He would relate the tractor, that every time he would pee on the potty, he would say tractor and trailer. So we decided to go to the John Deere place yesterday to let him pick out a tractor and trailer and explained to him that we could have it once he goes poo and pee on the potty all the time. He nodded his head and kept repeating poo & pee on potty to get tractor."  All was great until we got home....He wanted the tractor and trailer to play with right then. We kept repeating that he could have it when he no longer needs to wear diapers. He threw a crying/screaming fit for about 20 min and sat on the potty trying to pee and poo on the potty.

Do you see something that doesn't belong here?

We have placed the tractor and trailer up on a shelf in the living room, so that he is reminded of it everyday and every time he walks by it. Anytime someone comes to the house, he will tell them that he has a new tractor and trailer but has to potty to get it.

So hopefully all this bribing will work and he will get this tractor pretty soon.
