The other week Charlette was here petting Bella when she noticed a lump on her hind leg. She asked us how long it had been there, and Jayson & I had never seen it before. It didn't seem to bother Bella to much when you touched it, but we went ahead and took her to the vet just to see what it might be. (You know Jayson would do anything for this dog) Dr. Anderson said he wasn't sure what it was or could be, but if we wanted to, he would remove it for us and see if he could tell what it was. So the animal lovers we are, we opted to have it removed the other week. After Bella's surgery, Dr. Anderson called Jayson and told him that she was out of surgery and recovering, but he found some black stuff inside the lump and he wasn't sure what it was and asked if we would like to have it sent off, and Jayson said sure. So I reveived a phone call from the vet this week, to tell me that the lump contained cancerous cells and Dr. Anderson wasn't sure how much it had spread or if he got it all out when he removed the lump. He said that these cancerous cells were common in the basset hound breed. So our options are to either take her back and let him reopen her wound so he can get more agressive and make sure it was all removed or wait and watch to see if it comes back. I told Jayson, lets just wait and see if it comes back in the same place or see if another lump appears anywhere else on her. We can't afford to keep having surgery on Bella even though this is Jayson's baby.
