We had to say good-bye...

On January 3rd, we had to say good-bye to Jayson's Grandma Lil. We just celebrated her 90th birthday on October 13. She had been staying in the nursing home the last couple of years and was beginning to slow down over the last few months.

During her services, I learned that she joined the Southern Belles to help out with the soldiers and met this young handsome gentleman (Joe) at a dance. He then went to fight in World War II and she thought she would never see him again. During the war, her parents opened their home to soldiers returning from the war. It just so happend that Joe ended up at ther parent's home and the rest was history.  

Since I have know her, she has always been dressed to a T with her hair always fixed and her nails painted. She was a very organized person who wrote EVERYTHING down on note pads. She was one-of-a-kind who will never be forgotten.

Her Obituary:

Lillian Stokr Savino, age 90 of El Campo, died January 3, 2014. She was born October 13, 1923 in El Campo, Texas to the late Frank J. Stokr and Albina Ripple Stokr. She was a homemaker, member of the Catholic Daughters of America, KJZT and was Catholic.

Survivors include her daughter Marilyn Sue Heine and husband Darrell of Houston; sons Ralph Savino and wife Charlette and Joey Savino and wife Cindy both of El Campo; grandchildren and their spouses Brent Heine, Jonathan and Allison Heine, Lauren and Jonathan Feehan, Jayson and Jennifer Savino, Clint Savino, Clay Savino, Kyle and Tanya Savino, Kelsey and Chad Hajovsky and Chad Savino; great-grandchildren Connor and Luke Savino and Hudson Heine.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe A. Savino, and sisters Bessie Vacek and Evelyn Howard.

Visitation will begin at 2 pm on Sunday , January 5 , 2014 at Triska Funeral Home with a Rosary at 5 pm. Funeral service will be at 10 am on Monday, January 6, 2014 at St. Philip Catholic Church with the Reverend Michael Rother officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are grandsons Brent Heine, Jonathan Heine, Jayson Savino, Clint Savino, Clay Savino, Kyle Savino, and Chad Savino. Honorary Pallbearers are great-grandsons Connor Savino, Luke Savino, and Hudson Heine.
